January's Women's Jam - Sunday 15th - Vauxhall

A crisp chill, sun and smiles all around. Thank-you ladies for making it down and sharing the fun! See you next month! ;)

January's Women's jam

Happy New Year ladies! Due to the Winterval event taking place on the 2nd Sunday of the month, January's Women's jam will be held on Sunday the 15th of January 2012. Location: Vauxhall, please meet outside the 'Royal Vauxhall Tavern' pub on Goding street (located across from Vauxhall train station) for a 1.30pm start! See you there!! :D

For those unfamiliar with the jams, they are free and relaxed training sessions, for women only but catering for all levels of experience and ability. They are a great opportunity to catch up with other traceuses, share training ideas and tips and have a laugh in the process! They are not structured classes, but there are always people around for advice and training suggestions should you need it (including a few PKG instructors). A warm-up session kicks off the jams to get everyone moving and ready to go practise, so come ready to train!!

12/06/11 – Kilburn Girl's Jam

Once again, despite the continual rain and the unforgiving cold winds, 12 ladies gathered inside Kilburn park station, cheery and ready for action.

This month we headed to Kilburn instead of exploring the usual and wonderful Abbey, we thought it would be interesting to explore the other bits of terrain that Kilburn had to offer. And in light of the rain, the only feasible option seemed to be keeping warm with a wet adventure through the estates of Kilburn! ;)

We took a small jog to an estate, where Shirley led the warm-up with joint rotations and then some cardio. Later we broke off into two groups. Annty and Shirley led a follow-the-leader-trail each through the rain. Following 15 minutes of exploration we jogged to the next spot, where we were met by a spider-web rope climbing frame, which was just screaming for us all to climb! So we did! Tracey took a few ladies through some balancing drills, and the other ladies worked on kongs over slippery surfaces and some weaved in and out small routes.

Jogging to the next spot for a follow-my-leader-type-trail again, the ladies threw themselves into tricky climbs and a super scary wet rail ladder balance. They moved up and over walls, crawled under climbing frame and jumped through swings. Later continuing to work on split foot kongs and turn vaults and climbing.

We'd like to say a huge thank-you to the awesome ladies that made it down, and to the coaches that helped out too! We look forward to seeing all you ladies again next month! :D

08/05/11 – Westbourne Park Girl's Jam.

After a weather forecast of rain, 15 ladies turned up outside Westbourne Park Station with smiles in tow. The sun was beaming, one of its brightest smiles yet.

We all took a walk to the main spot where Annty did some joint rotations and led a warm up that consisted of a follow-the-leader-type expedition, jogging side ways, vaulting, climbing and weaving in and out, up and around the obstacles in our path. Shirley then began a small leg conditioning drill using different variations of going up and down stairs.

After a short water break the ladies broke off in to groups, some worked on basic vaults and combination drills with Annty and Shirley, catleaps and wallruns with Andy, balance with Blane or explorations of their own. Following the group photo, the few that were left played an awesome game of tag which involved full out sprinting and fast execution of vaults as well as coming up with tactical game plans.. Katie!*wink wink*. It was exhausting and extremely fun and a great way to end a great day.

Thank-you to all the ladies that made it down, to the new faces, we hope to see you again soon(!), to the old ones, it's always a pleasure(!), and to the ones that missed it, make sure to join in the fun next time(!) ;) not forgetting a big thanks to all the coaches that helped out too. See you all soon! :D
